#1 | Myth: Being organized means you are clean.
Truth: While most would assume one equals the other, I have been in many homes that are very clean and disorganized. Clean means the removal of dirt, marks, and stains. So, one can be disorganized and have a clean home.
Being tidy or neat does not necessarily mean that you are organized. One can have nice piles of paper on their desk and still be unorganized at the same time.
Being organized means a system is in place to get everything done when it is due. Everything should have a “home.” Granted, it doesn’t have to be labeled, but it sure helps when someone else is trying to execute your system in your absence. Being clean also helps the process of getting organized, and being organized helps clean around the house faster, but they do not need to be exclusive.
#2 | Myth: Being organized takes a lot of time and effort.
Truth: Let’s be honest, getting and staying organized is not rocket science! The key is to create a system that makes sense to you and your thought process. Once an organizing system is in place, it may take a little time to create the habit of following through your system, and that’s okay. Just stick to a plan that was created and keep your goals in mind. Before you know it, following an organized plan of action will eventually become easy-peasy.
Let’s be honest… being disorganized definitely takes more time than you imagine and cost you more money in the long run. Do you remember that time you lost your passport and didn’t have enough time to get a new one and had to cancel your vacation? Avoid these careless mistakes by being organized and proactive.
#3 | Myth: Organized people have no fun.
Truth: Absolutely not true! Have you met me yet?! Organized peeps are more efficient with their time which allows them to do the things they love. Did you know that getting rid of excess clutter can eliminate 40 % of the housework in the average home? Wouldn’t you rather go to a movie or hang out with friends than wasting your time searching for lost items or re-doing projects because of your disorganization?
Organized people are more likely to achieve their goals and have a better quality of life because they have the time and energy to be with loved ones and create memories.
