Most of us can agree that moving can be stressful, especially when we are not fully organized. And, it can be tough to get everything organized!

The rest of life doesn’t stop simply because you are moving. This means you have to work around your job, the kid’s activities and everything else in order to plan the move. This is where a relocation specialist can help. This is where you could use an Organized Chick.

What’s A Relocation Specialist?

Imagine having someone you can lean on to pack and unpack. This alone can significantly help reduce part of the stress of moving. A relocation specialist is someone who can come in and help organize and oversee the entire move- from packing/unpacking to working with the movers. You deserve a smooth move. That’s where we can help.

Moving can be less stressful if you take the right steps and are prepared. Here are five tips that can streamline your moving process with fewer hiccups.

Pick out a good moving date. The busiest days to move are the last three days of the month. Try picking a date around mid-month and any day between Monday through Thursday to avoid the rush.

Sort out stuff to donate. It just makes sense to use your impending move to sort out things you no longer need. It’s clear that you don’t want to move things you no longer need. It’s a good idea to sort out three piles: things to keep, things to donate and things to throw away.

Pack ahead the items you won’t be using. Items in storage, out-of-season clothes, dishes, knick-knacks, linens, and books are some examples of items that can be packed right away. Protect fragile items in packing paper, bubble wrap, or blankets to prevent cracking or breaking.

Ask for help. Be realistic and determine if you can grab some of your family members or need to hire professional packers/movers. Use social media to ask for empty boxes you can use to pack up items, or visit your local supermarket or liquor store and ask for their empty boxes.

Label everything. Label—by purpose or by room—the boxes as you pack them. Mark which boxes are fragile. You can also use colored stickers or post-it notes to color code rooms. Pack an overnight bag. You will want to place a change of clothes, important documents, electronics you use daily, basic toiletries, snacks and water, and any kid/pet items that may come handy.

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that loves moving, but there are definitely ways to make the entire process easier and less chaotic. That’s where the relocation specialists at Organized Chick can help. We can oversee the entire process and help you stay focused on the rest of your life. Together, we can stay organized and make your next move a happy one.
